26 Weeks

26 WEEKS
which also means......
14 weeks left!

Baby D is the size of
a Head of LETTUCE

Every morning I get an email letting me know what to expect or weekly updates on baby to be. Here is mine from today.....

"Notice your belly occasionally feeling really tight? That’s a contraction. Yup, already. Don’t freak out though -- your body is just practicing some tightening in preparation for labor. As long as the contractions aren’t steady or severe, you’re not in labor."

Did that just say the words contractions and labor??????

Yikes!

26 weeks also marked us at Election Day! The only part I really enjoyed about the elections was actually having the day off!

For all those that have been pregnant before you know what this is a picture of! Yup.....it was glucose test time! I was warned about this drink and how awful it is. I went in and they told me I had 10 minutes to drink it. I decided chugging was the best option. I chugged along and it wasn't even that bad. All it tasted like was a very sugary orange soda. The worst part was waiting the hour after for the actual blood work.

After the glucose test I decided to take advantage of the day and do some shopping.....for me! We have a wedding coming up, so Mama needed a new dress!!
A couple weeks ago I blogged about the week of the "fat ass" Shopping really wasn't like that this time. I am starting to really enjoy the bump....the bigger....the better and easier to dress!
HOWEVER.....
finding a cute, sexy dress in a maternity line is not easy!!
Everything maternity dress has a string/belt to it and makes you look incredibly "motherly." I don't want to look "motherly" and old at the wedding! I want to look and feel good!

I bought a black lace dress.....with a belt of course and I just wasn't crazy about it. It was just the best I could find and I had a feeling I wasn't going to find anything better. I decided to suck it up, buy it, and just funk it up with jewelry and shoes.
Shoes are a girls best friend!!! I love my shoes :  )

After the mall visit I needed to go to Target to get a few household items......all my girls know that you simply cannot go to Target and just pick up a few things! I ended up finding a super cute black dress in maternity for the wedding!! SCORE!! Big bonus that is was alot cheaper then the maternal lace one I had already gotten too. The dress is very form fitting and shows the bump perfectly.....even better.....it does not have a belt or tie!!! YES! I know you all want to see it, but you'll have to stay tuned for week 28 when the wedding takes place! I can't wait to celebrate Susan and Andrew <3

Halloween

Last Halloween was a blast! My cousins came with us to Salem and we def did it up!

Halloween 2011

Funday in Salem!

Our witch photo session

Last year we went as Popeye and Olive Oil as you can see. Years before I felt like it was always an excuse to dress sexy!! This year is QUITE different! Jeff and I searched for fun couple ideas with being pregnant and nothing really struck me because I didn't really want to show my belly. I never showed my belly as a skinny person....why would I want to throw it out there as a pregnant person?? However,  here were some of my favorites.

Might be my favorite!!
Adorable and annoying at the same time!
Preggo Barbie! Coming to stores soon!

He def should have rocked the bare belly look too! It's only fair!
I'm impressed with how skinny she is!

Really????

and now the moment you've all been waiting for........Jeff and I at this Halloween's Salem Spooktacular Spookfest Party.

Halloween 2012

HAHA! I'll admit....we waited until the very last moment to pick costumes. Saturday morning I went to Bob's just to see what they had. Score for the clearance section! I tried on trashy lace skirts and tops to try to copy the "shotgun wedding," but Yuck!! Then I was trying on things to be a "teen mom" from MTV. Jeff and I had agreed on this costume a week before, but the more I thought about it, I just did not want to be a boy. I'm glad I stuck with it. This was the world's most comfortable costume and Jeff learned how hard it is to be a girl!! 45 minutes in the make-up chair and a couple of guys hootin and hollering at him downtown Salem!  ;  )  I think next year we'll probably be Disney characters or pumpkins! Our days with trashy outfits are probably over.

23 weeks

When I first started this blog, the baby was the size of a lime. At 23 weeks it is a grapefruit, Except.....I am not going to call this week the week of the grapefruit.

This is the week of the FAT ASS!

Wednesday:

It's no lie that my belly is getting bigger and I am totally ok with that! I am actually excited that I finally look pregnant. However, I wasn't expecting to see and feel what I did this week. On Wednesday night I went to Target to buy some maternity pants because I can't exactly pull off the elastic on my regular pants anymore! I filled my cart and went into the dressing room. You know that feeling when it's almost time for bathing suit season and you're forced to try on a bathing suit in those tiny rooms with full length mirrors and bad lighting? Well....being pregnant magnified that times 1000! Being in that dressing room made me realize that I officially have a FAT ASS. Whoa! I wasn't expecting to see all that behind me!

Thursday:

These past months have been pretty stressful to say the least with everything that has been happening with my dad. Before going to the doctor's I sat down to write some questions and concerns. One concern I had was my weight. I never ever weigh myself, so I didn't know the number, but I had a feeling that I didn't put on as much weight as I should have because I haven't been eating good. When I'm stressed I am just not hungry.
I walked into the doctor's office and immediately got called to the scale. I don't care who you are.....no girl likes to weigh themselves. We are all so critical of ourselves and we don't like to see a number go up. Being pregnant doesn't make that any different. I knew my weight from the last time so when the number popped up, I was expecting to see maybe 3 or 4 more pounds.
HAHAHAHA!
Let's put it this way.....I ended up getting told by my doctor that I needed to start watching what I eat and she wants me to exercise! Never in my life did I think I would be told that I gained too much weight. For all those who have known me my whole life, I was always a health nut. I always ate relatively healthy and I used to teach aerobics 7 days a week. Since meeting Jeff I stopped the aerobics gig, but continued working out, running, taking Zumba classes and Kickboxing classes.
Instead of the 3 - 4 pounds I was supposed to gain, I gained 8! I can't believe I was concerned that I hadn't gained enough! At least I know our baby boy is getting what he needs to grow!
After the appointment I got in my car and started calling and texting some of my girls to share my "fat ass realization." If I wasn't pregnant and this happened I probably would have left the doctors in tears. This time, I just laughed and made a joke about it. I continued to vent to one of my friends, but 15 minutes into my car ride I found myself eating left over pizza from lunch!! Hahaha.

Yup....ate an entire pizza today, but after all the joking I did force my fat ass to the gym. Zumba classes are usually in the dark so you feel comfortable shaking and moving.....not tonight! I was forced to watch my body.....my whole body jiggle and move around for 60 minutes straight in a well lit room! You know those 8 pounds were intensified in my mind. I saw all 8 pounds and then some in my belly, my butt, my legs, my arms and my face! Yup.....this is def the week of the fat ass!

Week 22

        Week 22 - a week behind.....again!

At 11 inches...the length of a spaghetti squash....and almost one pound, Baby D is starting to look like a mini newborn....in this pic he looks more like a Halloween treat, but in my mind, Baby D looks like a Mini Jeff  : )
His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds between his gums.

                                                       Weddings and Pregnancy

I love weddings! I always have. It's a night out....you get to wear a cute outfit....you get to hang with your friends....and you get to let loose, drink, and dance.....oh wait - I can't drink!! One major downer to weddings while being pregnant!!! I'm not saying I have to drink to have a good time, but a nice glass of wine wouldn't hurt to get me on the dance floor! The pic below is from the last wedding we went to - Congrats Caitlin and Chris!! <3 What a fun night....but it was def fun in a different way for me. For one....I appreciated the food way more then I normally do! I'm usually too busy socializing while drinking my Pinot Grigio. This time I could spot a new waitress with a new tray of appetizers a mile away! They had at least 15 different types of apps - I've never seen anything like it! Yummo! Another thing that kept me entertained was just observing! Watching their families on the dance floor simply blew me away. There were people of all ages really showing some moves!! I really hope that when I'm 80 I'm still busting a move out there on the floor.

                                                Nursery

Jeff put together the crib in the recent weeks! I also ordered the bedding to see if the colors would go. Not bad! The greens are a little off, but it's def doable! Next on my list is ordering the Chinese lanterns, brown adhesive dots for one wall and a nice white bureau unit.

I like this bureau from Jordan's.
I also like these chairs. I'm hoping to get one of these for our Master Bedroom.
Accent Swivel Chair Accent Swivel Glider

and then this one for the nursery!

Daddy seems to like it too! ;  )

Week 20

Week 20 = Half way there!!!!!!!

It's hard to believe I am now in month 5 of pregnancy! It has gone by pretty dam fast. This week Baby D is the size of:

I thought girls were supposed to be the dramatic ones?? Well...this little boy gave me quite the scare last Friday. While at work I noticed I had started bleeding - scary stuff! Needless to say...I completely 100% freaked out. "Is this normal?" "Am I miscarrying?" "What the hell is going on?"

Thanks to everyone I work with I was able to leave and get checked out. 4 hours, a doctors visit, and a hospital visit later I was relieved to know that everything was a-ok! Still not sure what really happened, but baby seemed quite happy swimming around during the ultrasound. The best noise that day...his heartbeat!!! Thank the Lord! I have never been so scared in my life! I think I also scared the beejesus out of people at work, my poor mom - if it's not my dad.....it's me....and the hubster! Sorry all! I'd put the little one in timeout, but he doesn't sit still!

One good thing that came out of it.....I got some more pics of baby to be!

Little Feet
Proof that it's a boy

Doctors wanted me to take it easy this weekend after all the craziness, so I tried to do just that. When I got home that night I did go right to sleep. Then, I woke up the nest morning with my first pregnancy cold! YUCK! Jeepers.....after everything with my dad and this scare you'd think my body would be nice to me...but no. Instead it said....oh you're relaxed now? You're not running around like a chicken with it's head cut off?? Ok then....time for you to deal with something else!

A pregnancy cold seems different then just a regular cold for some reason. The difference.....it kicks your ass! You would think by now that some pregnant doctor would invent something that pregnant women can take when sick. Tylenol just doesn't cut it! I want the good medicated nose spray so I can breathe! I'd love some NyQuil so I could sleep!

My funny TMI moment with this cold is sneezing and coughing. Who would have thought I would pee everytime I cough or sneeze?! TMI I know, but the best thing about this blog....it's about me and if you don't like the TMI moments then don't read it! I think it's funny! If you've been pregnant before you probably know exactly what I'm talking about. If you want to have a baby someday....you just wait for the weird things that happen to your body!

One thing I have been playing with while I'm "taking it easy" is the dreaded registry! Parts of it are fun....other parts are incredibly overwhelming. How many strollers are there out there anyway? All of my Mommy friends have been great! Thanks to all of you who sent emails, lists, and even lists with links to products!! You girls rock!

I really like this boy nursery......

At the moment, the nursery walls are green, but a very pale, pretty green.
I found this bedding on Target.com but I'm not sure if our green walls with go.

.
I need to buy something in order to play and plan with, but I'm thinking plain walls, fun polka dot accessories with the bedding, either these curtains or solid brown ones....add those chinese lanterns!! Love those instead of a mobile over the crib!

And here it is.....Jeff's Daddy Comment of the Week - unedited of course!

"I watched nine hours of football this past Sunday.  Ok, maybe 10 ½ because of the replacement refs.  As much as I enjoy watching football and can’t wait to do it alongside my son, the NFL wasn’t the highlight of my day.  Kristin finally succeeded in dragging me to go apple picking before the 1pm games.  It’s taken her 5 years, but she got me there.  The farm we went to turned out to be pretty cool; I got a doughnut, apple cider and saw some baby goats.  As we were walking back to the car Kristin told me the next time we go we’ll be pushing a stroller.  How crazy is that?  After this little trip I can honestly say I can’t wait to start taking these little family weekend trips to parks and zoos; I just also hope that the G-Men have a lot of night games next year!"
